Summer Camp 2014 夏令營
July 2014
We had a great Summer Camp this year that was attended by many students from throughout the district. The kids played lots of team sports, sang many songs, made pizzas and ‘special’ sandwiches, did science activities, made their own boomerangs, and even learnt about camping – everyone was so busy!
There were lots of different and exciting things for the children to do during the week and I think that they took away many happy memories with them. I know that we did!
English Village Opening Ceremony 英語情境中心開幕儀式

Jiantan Elementray School
On Thursday, the twenty sixth of June, two thousand and fourteen, we proudly opened our Jiantan Elementary School English Village. There were many people and distinguished guests in attendance for this momentous occasion. Government officials, representatives from the Ministry of Education, politicians, parents, and members of the community came together at our school to witness and celebrate the opening. Representatives from the media were also in attendance to capture and report on this event.
Welcome New Parents Night 新生家長座談會
June 2014
On the sixth of June this year we welcomed our prospective new parents to our school and showcased our great teaching facilities and experienced international teaching staff. The evening began in the auditorium with a talk by the administrative staff and then we turned on our charm with some of our senior students acting out a coffee shop, the MRT, and a movie theatre, which was followed by an inspiring PowerPoint slide show. Following this, we drew the lucky number for the person to win the bicycle!
We sure hope to see the parents at our school again next year!
Traditional Medicine Lunch 教師樂活活動-藥膳之旅

In June, as part of our ‘Wacky Wednesday’ activities, the members of the English Department went out for a ‘traditional medicine’ lunch at the Bao An Confucius Temple in the Yuan Shan district. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful, the lunch was delicious, and afterwards many of the staff purchased a special packet of traditional herbs to take home.
Everyone felt good after lunch and the consensus was that the food truly not only tastes good, but is good for you!
School Fair 母親節園遊會
3rd of May 2014
On the third of May this year, we had our School Fair. Each class organised their own activity and the English Department chose to create a coffee shop and a “wet sponge throwing” activity, with teacher Warwick as the centre of attention, or more correctly; the main target! As well as throwing wet sponges at Warwick, you could also challenge him to an ‘arm-wrestle’! With Warwick being an exercise enthusiast and avid rugby player, he is no slouch when it comes to arm-wrestling, but this did not deter the young and the old, the men and the women, and the boys and the girls from challenging him.
All in all; everyone had a great day!
U-Bike AFternoon 教師樂活活動-單車之旅

On a Wednesday afternoon in most weeks our English department colleagues get to participate in an out-of-school activity. In April, we hired Taipei’s famous u-bikes and rode along the riverside pathways to the Neihu Riverside parklands.
It was a great afternoon and we certainly enjoyed the change of scenery!
